We implemented\u00a0<strong>transparency,<\/strong>\u00a0we endeavored to take into consideration all opinions and views that could enhance the onward march of Awing into the future. We tried at all times to work as a team, making sure that the community interest and the common good were privileged in all things and at all times.<br \/>\n<strong>Accountability<\/strong>\u00a0was capital to us as we managed the funds of NACDA stringently making sure that disbursement and deployment were proper.<br \/>\nWe served the people with\u00a0<strong>humility<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>honesty<\/strong>; we did strife at all times to respect the aspirations and fulfilled the needs of the people.<br \/>\nNACDA was founded on a sense of individual\u00a0<strong>sacrifice;<\/strong>\u00a0we all worked selflessly and sacrificially for the good of our people.<br \/>\nWe made an effort to cooperate with every body, NACDA branches in the Diaspora, the various community development unions, the council, government agencies, private sector operators, the Fon and the traditional council, friends of Awing and international partners.<br \/>\n<strong>The vision for Awing development<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter extensive consultations, we came away with the conclusion that Awing urgently needed a comprehensive plan for its long term development.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A plan for its harmonious development<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A plan that will help us prioritize our actions<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A plan that will help curb duplication and waste in projects<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A plan that will not leave the whims of individual leaders, the responsibility of determining the direction of NACDA.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A plan that will motivate the people to own their development.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We therefore made a synthesis of the salient points in the form of a draft\u00a0<strong>\u201cAgenda for the transformation of Awing\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We circulated a pamphlet and invited everyone to read it and submit observations and proposals so that we could finalize this document to serve as\u00a0<strong>a veritable compass or road map for the development of Awing<\/strong>. This included;\n<ul>\n<li>Development of road infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Three phase Electricity \/ Electricity extension to the quarters<\/li>\n<li>Development and distribution of portable water<\/li>\n<li>Master plan of the Awing main market<\/li>\n<li>Motor park with fuel station<\/li>\n<li>Awing mortuary service<\/li>\n<li>NACDA secretariat (head office)<\/li>\n<li>Telecommunication (Community Radio \/ Telecentres)<\/li>\n<li>Cultural heritage and tourism\n<ul>\n<li>Lake Awing<\/li>\n<li>Development of plazas in all quarters<\/li>\n<li>Recreational parks<\/li>\n<li>Art and crafts<\/li>\n<li>Museum<\/li>\n<li>Dance festivals<\/li>\n<li>Sport complex<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Home for the elderly<\/li>\n<li>Environmental protection programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also proposed the creation of an\u00a0<strong>Awing Economic Council<\/strong>\u00a0(AEC)<br \/>\nThe purpose of this council will be to map out an economic plan for Awing based on the potentials of our environment and the talents of our people. They have to find ways to modernise transform and add value to our agro-live stock production (food, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, fowls) through the development of cottage industries, tourism, art and crafts, services-banks, hotels, restaurants, etc&#8230; How to build strategic partnerships within the community and with external partners towards profitable business ventures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We struggled to purge and perfect the mechanisms of governance within NACDA in order to enhance its credibility and maximize performance.
